The Summer Reading Buzz

After all the desperate longing for summer holidays, the small people tend to find themselves BOOOOORRRRRRED remarkably quickly when they start. The Summer Reading Buzz may be one way to keep them entertained if your local library is particpating.

When your child registers, they get a library-card-sized membership card with 10 spots to collect stamps as they return books they’ve read. They can fill as many cards as they like through the summer, so they’re not obliged to stop reading once they get to 10 books. 😉

Each completed card can be redeemed for an on-the-spot mini prize (bookmarks, pencils, wrist bands and the like), and also goes into a draw for end-of-summer “fabulous prizes”. (I think last year there were digital cameras to be won.)

There are also lots of library-based events, such as story telling, music, crafts and even yoga (PDF program for Dublin City Public Libraries here).
