Running Multiple Instances of Skype Simultaneously

Most companies I work with these days either ask me to set up a dedicated Skype account for business purposes, or set one up for me. If you’re trying to stay available to multiple groups of people, being stuck with just one Skype login at a time is somewhat restricting. Turns out, on Windows you can log into multiple accounts at the same time if you run Skype using the /secondary flag!

To do this:

  1. Click the Windows key and R to open a Run window.
  2. Depending on where Skype is installed, enter:
    "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /secondary
    or
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /secondary
  3. Hit return.
  4. In the Skype window that appears, log in to one of your Skype accounts.
  5. Repeat as necessary.
