Multiple Skype Sessions on Mac

Last week’s post on running multiple Skype sessions on Windows was a big hit – clearly this is something that more people than just me want to be able to do! I had a query in on whether it was possible to do the same on a Mac, but couldn’t find a straightforward solution: I still haven’t found a particularly straightforward solution, but I have found a way to be logged into two accounts simultaneously on a Mac, if that’s any help!

So, it turns out that if you go to web.skype.com, there’s a beta browser-based version of Skype, and in theory if you open a private browsing/incognito window for each Skype account, you can log in multiple times! Tried and tested on Windows.

On Mac, however, the web-based version of Skype hung when trying to open it in Safari (only officially supported browser) with private browsing on.

Slightly kludgy partial solution, though, is that you can have one account open in the native Skype application on Mac, and log in to a second account in your browser. Verified on both Windows and Mac.
